HURRAH PASS

LESS DIFFICULT

ROUTE TYPE: PAVED ROAD AND GRADED DIRT ROAD - OUT AND BACK TYPE RIDE

This route is great adventure for the whole family ending with spectacular views of Moab's Canyon Country.

Turn left out of the Moab Outback ATV Rentals parking lot onto Hwy 191, turn left at McDonalds onto Kane Creek Blvd., then left at the junction with 500 West. After roughly 2 miles the pavement ends and the fun begins! Unload and ride as an in-and-out.

Trail follows a stream with large cottonwood trees and plenty of sheer cliffs. Beginners will be thrilled by the sheer cliffs while advanced riders will be satiated by the visual rewards. The large wide road then opens to unique red rock buttes with refreshing water crossings. Views become more impressive as the trail climbs an improbable route up, providing plenty of viewpoints to conclude at the spectacular overlook into Moab's outback at Hurrah Pass.

MONITOR & MERRIMAC

MORE DIFFICULT

ROUTE TYPE: UNMARKED LOOP SURFACE - SAND WITH SOME WASHES, SLICKROCK AND MODERATE OBSTACLES

ATV Heaven! This route is relatively family-friendly and reaches towering buttes among the open desert.

Turn left out of the Moab Outback ATV Rentals parking lot and drive about 12 miles north on Hwy 191. After the turnoff to Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands National Park, turn left into an unmarked parking area immediately past Archview Resort and Shell station.

Cruise up the Cotter Mine Road for about three miles, then turn left and climb into rougher terrain. Top out and navigate towards Monitor & Merrimac buttes, then circle around to Determination Towers where you might spot a rock climber. Crest a gradual pass and drop into Tusher Wash. Catch the last part of 3-D Trail on your way back to Mill Canyon and Cotter Mine roads.

STEEL BENDER / FLAT PASS

MOST DIFFICULT

ROUTE TYPE: OUT-AND BACK WITH ALTERNATE SURFACES - RUGGED WITH MANY LEDGES AND WATER CROSSINGS

Experts love the challenge, but this one's not for the faint of heart.

TRAIL FROM SOUTH TO NORTH FLAT PASS AND OPTIONAL STEEL BENDER:

Turn right out of the Moab Outback ATV Rentals parking lot and drive about 7 miles south on Hwy 191. Turn left following signs to Ken's Lake. Before reaching the lake, park and head up Flat Pass.

TRAIL FROM NORTH TO SOUTH - NORTH FLAT PASS RETURNING ON STEELBENDER LOOP:

As an alternate route, avoiding the most difficult obstacles The Wall and Dragon's Tail. Turn right out of the Moab Outback ATV Rentals parking lot and drive 2.8 miles south on Hwy 191. Turn left at the Shell Gas Station onto Spanish Trail Road, continue straight at the 4-way stop, then straight again at the roundabout onto Westwater Drive. Continue to the top of the hill and park before the entrance to private property.

Some open sandy sections provide a little time to re-energize for the next obstacle, or take a break to enjoy the oasis of Mill Creek down below and pristine views into Mill Creek Wilderness Study Area from above. Only in Moab!
